After the 2008-9 1% Well-read Challenge, the 1% Well-read Challenge 2009-10 is now open. Again the challenge is to read books from 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, complicated by the new edition which has dropped some titles in order to make room for more recent books. Participants in this challenge can choose to work from either the new edition or the old, or a combination of the two.
This is the list based on the original 1001 List (from 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die) aiming for 10 books in 10 months. Participants should join up, and link blogged reviews on the 1% Well-read Challenge 2009-10 site .
ANZ LitLovers blog contributor members can add a personal symbol to this list to track titles read). You can also download an Excel worksheet to track your progress from here. But be warned, the new worksheet is based on the revised 1001 list and it’s very different. I have read 24% of the old list, but only 21% of the new, and there are far fewer classics on the new list.
